These new style Automatic Knives are completely legal to own.
auto knives, spring assisted opening, folding knife, stiletto, pocket knife.  With a flip of the index release that sticks out of the back the handle or the thumbstud on the blade, the blade is released using the spring inside. Because of the manual pressure applied and the lack of a push button to release the spring, these fall outside the federal definition of switchblades.
